Engineering works on north side of Grange Road
Ordnance Survey documents indicate that in 1962 a benchmark levelled at 56.196m above Newlyn Datum was verified at the right hand end of the nearer of two single storey buildings which appear to have been converted to a single building now (note the change in wall construction and roof material where the gap was).

Industrial units on south side of Grange Road
Ordnance Survey documents indicate that in 1962 a benchmark levelled at 60.713m above Newlyn Datum was verified on a building here which has since been demolished

Batley (ex-LNW) Station
This is the ex-LNW Station at Batley on the Manchester - Huddersfield - Leeds main line, looking SW towards Dewsbury from beside the ex-GN Wakefield - Ossett - Dewsbury - Leeds/Bradford line seen in the foreground, which was closed from 7/9/64 Goods 15/2/65.and was served by the lines from Wakefield (Westgate) and Ossett via Dewsbury. It went on to Leeds (Central) via Tingley and Beeston (closed to passengers 29/10/51, goods 30/6/64) and to Bradford (Exchange) via Adwalton Junction (closed 7/9/64, Goods 15/2/65), then Drighlington & Adwalton and Laisterdyke (closed to passengers 4/7/66, Goods 31/10/66 - 16/3/68). There was also a GN line (Goods only) from Ossett to Batley direct, which lasted until 1/5/72. The picture was probably taken from a footbridge that used to cross here.

Batley railway station, Yorkshire
Opened in 1848 on the London & North Western Railway's line from Leeds to Huddersfield. View south towards Staincliffe & Batley Carr and Huddersfield. There were also further platforms to the left, opened by the Great Northern Railway in 1864 and used until 1964. Compare with Image
