No. 166 Crackenedge Lane
Ordnance Survey records indicate there was a benchmark on the road end of the dividing wall (left of the green gate carrying the 'Woodlands' house name of No. 176) between Nos. 166 and 176. The mark was levelled at 71.375m above Newlyn Datum in 1962. I suspect the installation of the gate has led to the loss of the benchmark.

Site of Batley Carr (GN) Station
View northward, towards Batley, Bradford and Leeds; ex-GN line from Wakefield via Ossett and Dewsbury to Batley, Bradford and Leeds curving ahead, the ex-LNW (Manchester - Leeds) line through Dewsbury (Wellington Road) being up above on the right. Batley Carr station was closed on 2/3/50, but the ex-GN line in the picture lasted until 15/2/65, passenger services having ceased on 7/9/64. See also Batley at Image
