Oil Trains No More
The old CLC goods route avoiding Manchester was truncated in the 1970s due to the condition of the bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal. A residual set of oil trains continued to serve Carrington Refinery, but all is now history. A direct road from Altrincham to Partington using the formation would be a major local improvement, but is very unlikely to happen.

Broadheath - Sinderland Lane
The bridge in the background is a very new access to a housing estate. Why a bridge is required over a dismantled railway is anyone's guess.

Broadheath - Dairyhouse Lane
The northern end of this lane which, within living memory, once had as its primary purpose access to Dairyhouse Farm. The lane is now an access route (for cars only) to several large industrial areas west of Altrincham.

Trans-Pennine Trail, Broadheath
This miserable stretch of broken kerb, about a foot wide, is all that pedestrians have to walk along beside the busy and narrow Dairyhouse Lane. An unpleasant stretch of the Trail. In the background is the T-junction with Sinderland Road.
