Meanwhile Gardens
Meanwhile Gardens is a small open space on the south bank of the Grand Union Canal, west of Great Western Road. The gardens were created in the early 1970s when permission was given by the local authority to a group of local residents to clear an area of derelict wasteland, on a temporary basis - hence the name. They are now run by the Meanwhile Gardens Community Association, a charity, and appear to have an assured future as a valuable open space in an otherwise very built-up area.

Grand Union Canal, Westbourne Green
Seen here from Carlton Bridge, which carries Great Western Road, the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal passes through West London's suburbs eventually to meet the main line, coming up from the Thames at Brentford, at Bulls Bridge, near Hayes. Immediately ahead is the Trellick Tower, Erno Goldfinger's highly controversial 31-storey tower block completed in 1972, currently swathed in scaffolding.

Scaffolded house on Great Western Road
Looking along Chippenham Road to the direct north, around a quarter of the buildings are scaffolded. I can only think the reason is gentrification.

Union Tavern
The blue bridge carries the A207 Great Western Road over the Grand Union Canal. The advert on the Union Tavern for the brewery probably dates from the late 1940's or early 1950's as it proclaims the brewery is over 100 years old (FST was founded in 1845).
