Embassies - Good Neighbours
Kensington is "Embassy Land". There is an obvious functional agglomeration of these in the rich housing area south of Hyde Park. These are the Belarussian and Mongolian embassies in Kensington Court.

Kensington Street Signs
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea not only has many royal connections but also many literary ones. William Makepeace Thackeray lived in Young Street, Onslow Square, then had a house, "Palace Green", built in Kensington Palace Gardens where he died in 1863. Christmas decorations at the Milestone Hotel surround the sign.

The Milestone Hotel, Kensington
On the junction of the A315 Kensington Road and Kensington Court Road (on the right). The building is made-up of two Grade II listed houses, converted into a hotel. Cast iron post by the A315, in parish of KENSINGTON (KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA District), Kensington Palace Gardens; by Milestone Hotel, to right of Hotel entrance set into railings behind footpath, on South side of road. Middlesex cast iron, erected by the Kensington turnpike trust in the 19th century.
