Northfields Tube Station
The larger of the 2 stations in the grid square and attached to the depot for the west end of the Piccadilly Line.

Northfields Tube Station
Piccadilly Line station to the west of South Ealing - the two stations are close enough that you can easily see people on one station from the other, and could probably hold a shouted conversation.

Tube train leaving South Ealing station
The Metropolitan District Railway opened the line from Hounslow High Street to the junction with the MDR near Ealing on 1st May 1883. South Ealing station opened on the same day. District Line trains only ran over the line until 1932 when Piccadilly Line trains started to run over the branch when the depot at Northfields opened. By then a second pair of tracks had been laid between Acton Town and Northfields to give unimpeded access to the depot. The extra tracks came into use on 18th December 1932. The station had been rebuilt from June 1931 in readiness for the widening of 1932. The full service of Piccadilly Line trains running through to North London started in early 1933. District Line trains through South Ealing ceased in October 1964 and the service is now entirely provided by the Piccadilly Line.
