Civic Centre, High Street, Uxbridge
This shows the staff entrance to the Civic Centre offices, home to the London Borough of Hillingdon. LBH came into being in 1965 when local government in London was re-organised. Originally this was Middlesex. To my mind it is only in London by dint of administrative convenience. Uxbridge doesn't have a London postcode or a London telephone number prefix. Parts of it feel much more like the neighbouring counties of Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

Civic Centre, London Borough of Hillingdon
Hillingdon Civic Centre is the headquarters of the London Borough of Hillingdon, located in Uxbridge. It was designed by Andrew Derbyshire and is one of the most famous buildings in the British neo-vernacular style. It was planned from 1970, built from 1973 onwards and opened in stages after 1976 with a formal opening in April 1979.
Derbyshire's design made extensive use of brick and tile, to pay homage to traditional homely brick architecture of nearby buildings and suburban developments that were 'indigenous to the borough'. It covers an area of eight acres, including extensive gardens and a paved entrance square. It cost £18.5 million.
