Business Units by the Loop
Between the Grand Union Canal and the River Colne the London Loop path goes by the top end of a large industrial estate.
The path runs along the west boundary of this estate for a couple of kilometres.
The green logo signs for the London Loop are on the pole.

Coal tax boundary post no.66, St. John's Road

The road level has increased considerably since 1861 when the post was erected. See also Image
There were originally nearly 280 coal tax posts located around London, of which about 210 are still extant; around 180 of these (85%) are 3 ft high white-painted square bollards with a pyramidal top, decorative raised bands, and the shield from the City of London’s arms, like this one. The posts were erected under the Coal and Wine Duties (Continuation) Act of 1861 to mark the points at which duty had to be paid on coal being transported to London. The boundary was set at that of the Metropolitan Police District, and the resulting revenue was used by the Corporation of the City of London to fund public works. See Image The remains of two screws that held a rectangular "correction plate" can be seen below and to the right of the "C" of "VICT" in the upper line of the inscription, and below and to the left of the "C" of "CAP" in the lower line. It's also just possible to see faint outlines of the edges of the correction plate. For more info, see Image

Long Bridge (over the River Colne)
On St. John's Road. Nail's list of Coal Tax posts http://www.coaldutyposts.org.uk/cityposts.html gives this as the site of boundary marker no.66, a white post such as Image, but the post was concealed in the vegetation by the metal post nearest to the bridge - I found it a couple of years later: see Image
Nail's list of missing marks includes no.66a - a square metal plate such as Image - which was originally on the parapet of the bridge, but disappeared when the bridge was reconstructed in 1973-74.
