Uxbridge Lido
Mothballed, derelict, and deserted in 2002, the 1935 Grade II listed art deco open air swimming pool is the subject of ambitious refurbishment plans by the London Borough of Hillingdon. The Borough's website provides much more fascinating history and information: http://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/education/amr/lido.php

Uxbridge Lido (2007)
This epic Lido is the second largest outdoor pool in the UK! Plus, it is the only 12 sided lido in existence in the UK! Tag 'artists' have ruined this lovely 1930s lido, but its saving grace is Hillingdon Council are to redevelop the site and extend the swimming facilities to include an indoor pool and gym. I'm so glad this brilliant piece of art-deco architecture will be restored to its former glory.

A view at the Gatting Way End of the ground during the tea interval on the second day of the Middlesex-Nottinghamshire match, which was played at Uxbridge as Lord's was being prepared for Olympic archery. Rain was about to end the day's play, with the visitors in a commanding position.

Middlesex v Nottinghamshire at Uxbridge
On the second morning of the County Championship match Nottinghamshire's Adam Voges was beaten outside the off stump by the Middlesex seamer Tim Murtagh - the ball impressing England captain Andrew Strauss (open-mouthed at first slip). Voges had the better of things, though, scoring 105 of Notts' 329, a first-innings lead of 231. The non-striker, with his back to the camera, is Michael Lumb, who scored 50 (as Strauss had done on the previous day). The sightscreen and trees in the background are at the Gatting Way End. After a sunny morning, rain ended play at tea.
