Greenford Park Cemetery
Greenford Park Cemetery was laid out on former farmland, with a grid of paths leading to a small chapel in the centre. It was declared open for interments 'at exceptionally low charges' in January 1902. All the graves face in the normal east-west direction except in the Muslim section just to the west of the chapel where they are all aligned roughly east-south-east to west-north-west to face Mecca. The chapel is unusually bright for a cemetery and looks like it has had a fresh application of while paint. A photograph of the Muslim area can be seen at http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5752715

Mains Water
The rusted green posts and arrowhead wrought iron gates on a green avenue threading its way between houses are a giveaway that this in one of the Metropolitan Water Board's large mains. In fact this green avenue carries 42" and 48" mains connecting the water treatment works at Kempton Park with the pumping station at Cricklewood. The mains were broken by German Bombing on the evening of 30th September 1940 resulting in major water supply problems throughout northwest London. As recently as July 2013 the 48" main burst causing flooding to homes on Greenford Road not far from here.
