West end of Braemar Road, Brentford
Looking towards Ealing Road from Brook Road South. Braemar Road passes along the south side of Griffin Park, Brentford Football Club's home ground, hence the floodlights towering over the houses in the centre of the picture.

'The Griffin', and Brook Road South
A Fuller's pub at the corner of Brook Road South and Braemar Road. The scale of the building and its street-corner location both suggest that it was built as a pub. The lettering on the frieze is cut (or moulded) into the masonry, so it seems the pub has been in the hands of the same brewers from the outset. Wiki tells me that Fuller, Smith and Turner have traded under that name since 1845 - a date which would tally well with the style of the pub and of the terraced houses in Braemar Road.

45 Brook Road South
On the corner of Mafeking Avenue, 45 Brook Road South in Brentford was a grocery store in 1911, run by Robert Dixon who later became a dentist. The building has been badly altered and shows its retail origins.

A pub on every corner, Brentford (1)
The Griffin, on the corner of Brook Road South (foreground) and Braemar Road, just across the latter from the south corner of Griffin Park, the home ground of Brentford Football Club. Griffin Park is known for being the only football ground in England with a pub at each corner; it takes its name from this establishment, which provided the club with dressing rooms when the ground first opened.
