The Wyke Green entrance to Osterley Park, February 2016
The rough track is Osterley Lane, which crosses farmland to reach the north-east end of the park's lake.
This was by no means the first time I'd photographed these lodges - on this occasion I couldn't resist the crispness of the light. Things do change from time to time - the gate piers have lost some fancy Georgian wrought-ironwork since I first photographed them.

South Lodge, Osterley Park
Although these lodges are on the eastern side of Osterley Park, the one on the left is South Lodge. I assume this is because it is to the south of the one on the right (although I only worked this out when I was at home).

It is only in the last few weeks - after several months of dry conditions - that puddles have again become a familiar part of the landscape.

Lodges at the Wyke Green entrance to Osterley Park, February 2016
These paired lodges (not altogether symmetrical) first caught my eye many years ago. On this occasion I couldn't resist the crisp light of an early February afternoon. There was a very sharp wind blowing (force 5 or 6) - notice the ripples on the big puddle.
Beyond the gateway the track - Osterley Lane - crosses farmland now used for horse grazing.
