The Southern Railway normally managed with much fewer 0-6-0 goods locomotives, the principal class on the Western (ex-LSW) Section being the Drummond '700' class 0-6-0. Here, before Nationalisation, is No. 698 (built in 4/1897, withdrawn 5/62).

SR Q1 0-6-0 at Feltham Locomotive Depot
No. 33016 is one of the strange-looking but powerful Q1 class 0-6-0s introduced for wartime freight traffic by Bulleid in 1942, being built as No. C16 in 11/42 and lasting until 8/63.

SR Maunsell 4-6-0 at Feltham Locomotive Depot
Outside the main Shed in 1947 are two of the later (Maunsell) S15 class 4-6-0s, used for many of the main-line freight workings from Feltham Yard. The front one is No. 834 (built 11/27, withdrawn 11/64), behind is No. 837 (built 1/28, withdrawn 9/65).

Old Adams 0-6-0 at Feltham Locomotive Depot
No. 3167 was an ex-LSW Adams '0395' class 0-6-0, built in 5/1883 but lasting until 12/56 - latterly on light duties. Of a large class, it was one of the few not sent abroad during World War I.

Ex-LSWR M7 0-4-4T at Feltham Locomotive Depot
A pre-Nationalisation portrait of Drummond M7 class No. 25 (built 2/1899, withdrawn as No. 30025 in 5/64). It was one of the few on the allocation of Feltham Depot, which was primarily for freight motive power, having in 1947 an allocation of 96:- 37 4-6-0, 10 4-4-0, 5 2-8-0 (ex-WD), 35 0-6-0, 4 4-8-0T and 5 0-4-4T.

River Crane tunnel, SE end
This tunnel takes the River Crane underneath the Feltham railway marshalling yards site. Lovely, isn't it. One of the smaller tunnels was (at the time this picture was taken) just about passable so long as you wore good wellies and carried a decent torch. There is a picture of the other end in square
