The Southern Railway normally managed with much fewer 0-6-0 goods locomotives, the principal class on the Western (ex-LSW) Section being the Drummond '700' class 0-6-0. Here, before Nationalisation, is No. 698 (built in 4/1897, withdrawn 5/62).
