The Old Goat
What's in a name. This is Brouge at The Old Goat. It's a bar specializing in Belgian food and beer ... (Brouge = Bruges, I suppose ?) Yeah, I had to think about it too .... Anyway, it looks nice enough, and Belgian beer is always worth a detour. It was the Jolly Blacksmith when I lived round here.

Fulwell Bus Garage
This is the Stanley Road entrance. There is a similar facade and large forecourt facing onto the A311 round the other side and the garage occupies most of the land in between apart from a fire station just to the left of this picture. That's the fire station tower behind the buses. It was originally built for trams by the London United Tramway Company hence the height of the doors which are considerably taller than a modern 2 deck bus. Facts for Bus historians on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulwell_Bus_Garage. The place now seems to be run by an outfit called Abellio which sounds more like the Italian for beer gut than anything to do with buses.

Tram Track at Fulwell
This is the entrance to Fulwell bus garage which was originally built for trams. In the gateway the newer surface has been worn away to show the old yard paving and tram lines which obviously were never taken up. For more about this place see Image

A crumbling bench mark in Stanley Road, Twickenham
This Ordnance Survey bench mark has deteriorated on its crumbling brickwork. The railway bridge to the left has been rebuilt, but this buttress is part of the old wall that borders the old tramway/bus depot in Stanley Road. See also Image

'Twickenham Depot' Abellio bus garage
This sign proclaims the ownership of Twickenham bus garage by Abellio which in its publicity refers to the premises variously as 'Twickenham Depot' or 'The Old Tram Garage'. There is good reason for this since the Abellio garage here forms the eastern half of a former tram (and later trolleybus) depot operated by first London United Tramways and then London Transport. The separate western half of the premises is also a bus garage, operated in its case by London United Busways, a subsidiary of the French RATP Group.
