Royal Star and Garter Home (Richmond Hill)
The charity was established in 1916 to care for seriously disabled young men returning from battlegrounds of the First World War. The home still cares for ex-servicemen and women.

Cast iron plate by the UC road, in parish of RICHMOND UPON THAMES (RICHMOND UPON THAMES District), Star & Garter Hill, top rear elevation of centre pier to main park entrance. Richmond Park marker erected by a private estate in the 19th century. Richmond Gate, Richmond Park
The Richmond Gate in Richmond Park. Beyond the gate is the Star & Garter home, formerly a nursing home run by the Royal Star & Garter Homes charity to provide care for people who had served in the armed forces. The home was closed in 2013 and sold to a housing developer. The Royal Star & Garter Homes have moved to a new, purpose-built site a few miles away in Surbiton.
