Watching the sun go down, Richmond Park
From the ridge, just north of Thatched House Lodge. From the escarpment on the west side of the Park you can see for miles. Among the more distant landmarks visible are Royal Holloway College at Egham, the Hog's Back, Ranmore church (on the North Downs west of Dorking), and the Mole Gap. Windsor Castle is no longer easy to pick out, being obscured by recent building - though you may still be able to see it from somewhere along the ridge. Richmond Park is a National Nature Reserve.

Beech trees along the edge of Coronation Plantation, February 2019
I find it hard to guess whether these trees were planted in 1953 or in 1937. I suspect that the latter date is the correct one, simply because - despite the numerous royal dedications in Richmond Park - I can't think of any other feature commemorating the reign of King George VI. The plantation appears to be entirely of beeches.

Olympic men's road race
The main peloton heading through Richmond Park on the way back to central London. They are led by the British team but the breakaway was too far ahead and too large to chase down.
