Middlesbrough 4th railway station (site), Yorkshire
Opened in 1874 by the North Eastern Railway as a temporary replacement for the main station, whilst it was being replaced. The new station opened, and this one on Wood Street closed, in 1877. View north west towards the current (5th!) station. The temporary structure would have probably been on both sides of the fence. No trace apparently remains.

Class 20 locomotives on the Redcar to Redmire service
A pair of Class 20 locomotives based at the local Thornaby depot haul the empty Redcar to Redmire service past the east end of Middlesbrough Station on a dull Decembers day. At this time some raw products like limestone for the steel making at Redcar was obtained from the Redmire quarry and a daily service used to run. These are the empties en-route for loading with limestone.. The journey down the actual Redmire branch from Northallerton was rather slow. This particular flow finished on the 28th December 1992.

Middlesbrough Locomotive Depot, open-air roundhouse
View northward towards the River Tees, east of Middlesbrough Station; one of three turntables which was exposed by enemy air attack in World War II. The old bus station, Middlesbrough ? 1968
On Marton Road at the rear of the old Royal Exchange. This scene has been obliterated by the creation of the elevated section of the A66 through the town centre. Former Stockton Corporation bus 39 is a Leyland PD2 with Northern Counties bodywork new in 1958, now in the turquoise livery of Teesside Municipal Transport. This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=137652761

Railway line east of Middlesbrough station
Looking towards Saltburn and Whitby from the end of platform 2. The carriage sidings on the right are somewhat overgrown, but at least one appears to see frequent use. The freight lines that bypass the passenger station to the north can just be picked out in the distance as they parallel the passenger lines towards Saltburn.
