Roadside Montbretia (Crocosmia), Winnards Perch
Garden flower or noxious weed? It is both. You will find plenty of these bright and decorative plants in gardens. But they have spread to hedges and clifftops. Cornwall Wildlife Trust on a web page wrote "Halt the alien menace. Don't dump your garden rubbish on the verge." This told us "In Australia the plant has been classed as a noxious weed and it is illegal to sell it or allow it to spread to adjacent land."

Old Milestone by the A39, north east of Winnard's Perch
Carved stone post by the A39, in parish of ST CLETHER (RESTORMEL District), North of Winnard's Perch roundabout, on brow of hill, on East side of road. St Columb stone, erected by the Camelford, Wadebridge & St Columb turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- II MILE To Saint COLUMB Carved benchmark on lower face. Grade II Listed.
