Devoran - Old Tram Road
As it entered Devoran from the north-west, the Redruth and Chasewater Railway split into three near the village centre. The upper route followed the line of Carclew Terrace and emerged here to continue along what is now called Old Tram Road, running behind the photographer's position as a horse-drawn tramway towards the old terminus at Point. Although the railway closed in 1915 and the rails were taken up in 1919, the road surface was not made up until 1951.

Old Tram Road
It is fascinating to find the legacy of the Redruth and Chacewater Railway in the modern landscape. This road along the edge of the Carnon River estuary had its origin in the 1827 extension of the railway from Devoran to Point Quay Image

Fordh an Kay
I had to catch this image for my wife, Kay. I really did not expect to add Kernowek to my Geograph lexicon, on top of Irish & Scottish Gaelic and Welsh, but it's great to see it written in the landscape again. It is also very like Welsh, so it made me feel at home (apart from the K, of course)!

Quay Road, Devoran
Looking west back down the line of Quay Road towards the village centre. Various spurs and sidings of the Redruth and Chasewater Railway (1824 to 1915) ran off to the left of the road to service a range of wharves and warehouses.

The Boat House and Steam Launch Moondance, Devoran
This is a new looking house and although I think I can identify it on the aerial view it is not on Streetview. The launch is a modern replica of a c1890 gentleman's steam launch with a 4.2 horsepower single cylinder engine. It was formally commissioned in 2014. It would be very nice to see it under way on the local waters. Photographed from the public road outside the property.
