The King's Drive closed
Flooding caused chaos earlier in the day on Torquay seafront https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/cars-washed-away-storm-emma-1287938 , hence the road closure.

Snow at Abbey Gates, Torquay
I think the ambulance may have been intending down The King's Drive, but that is closed, because of earlier chaos on the seafront, so it is about to turn into Walnut Road. To the left is Abbey Dene https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101202963-abbey-dene-hotel-tormohun-ward .

Crocuses, Abbey Gates
Foiled in my attempt to gaze on some tropical blooms nearby - see Image] - this cheering sight on the bank behind the seats shown in Image was some consolation.

A filled fountain
Located at the junction of the King's Drive and Rathmore Road is a public drinking fountain, which is now something of a shadow of its former self. The cracked surrounding and missing tap portray a sorry tale. See Image] for a wider look as to why the fountain is in such a neglected state.

Signpost, Abbey Gates
The gates are actually on the far side of the road junction; this old sign survives on the north corner, on the angle between Avenue Road ("to Torre Station") and Falkland Road ("to Castle Circus and town"). The arm you can't see, pointing along Chestnut Avenue, reads "to Belgrave Road and Abbey Park".
