Brimley House, 42 Higher Brimley
Must be one of the earliest houses in Higher Brimley; the polychrome brick terrace and villas either side of it came later. Note the slate-hung wall.

This is the right-hand, north part of a panorama of the Brimley valley. On the floor of the valley left of centre is Lower Brimley Close and to the right are properties in Brimley Drive. On the valley side above, on the left, are villas in Higher Brimley. To their right is the long polychrome brick terrace called Higher Brimley Terrace. On the skyline are the nameless heights above the Exeter Road; new housing developments encircle the summit. The other two parts of this panorama are Image and Image

The central section of a panorama. Below the viewpoint, left, are semi-detached villas in Lower Brimley Road. Beyond the yew tree, centre, is Lower Brimley Close. Climbing up the opposite hillside are the great villas of Higher Brimley. Just showing over their rooftops are the upper parts of Teignmouth Community College. The other two parts of this panorama are Image and Image

Higher Brimley from Lower Brimley Close
The floor of the Brimley valley could only be developed once the Brimley Brook (aka River Tame) had been culverted. Lower Brimley Close is characteristic ad hoc development in the valley, while older housing marches in an orderly fashion up and along the hillsides. Detached and semi-detached polychrome villas look down from Higher Brimley.
