Purcombe Cross
The junction is also shown Image] and Image] . The signpost arm for the lane straight ahead appears to read "PURCOME PIP FARMS LAKE ONLY", but what is intended is that it leads only to Purcombe, Pip and Lake farms. It is not, however, a no through road, as it meets the lane to Beeston near Waytown Cross, though you'd reach that point far more quickly by following the road to the left here and keeping right.

Purcombe Cross
The lane beyond the junction is followed by the parish boundary between Denbury and Torbryan parish (left) and Broadhempston, to which the lane leads. The lane on the right is signed to Purcombe, Pip and Lake Farms only, although you can actually follow it through to Waytown. Going right at the next junction, Blackwell Cross Image, visible less than 100 metres ahead, would be a much quicker route to Waytown, though.

Blackwell Cross
The guide post says "Blakewell Cross" whereas maps give Blackwell for the junction and the lane to the left. Up at the next clump of trees is Purcombe Cross. Image was taken from a gateway immediately to the left.

Lake Farm
And other farms, but only Lake is in this square. The listed farmhouse at Lake is described at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1097327 : "Despite alterations this house contains some good quality C17 features". Prominent beyond on the left is Younghouse, with Gullaford further off on the extreme left, across the River Hems valley. The hilltop wood on the left is Penn Plantation; the larger wood right of centre is Hooper Hayes Copse. This is a lovely area of South Devon. The view is from Blackwell Lane, between Purcombe Cross and Waytown Cross.
