Wellington Town Council
Perhaps because it wants to maintain a separate identity from Telford, there are reminders everywhere around the town centre that this is Wellington and there is a palpable sense of civic pride - including this display on the end of the civic offices. The flower tubs commemorate three town councillors, all of whom served as mayor and passed away recently. In front of them the England flags are here presumably because of the Euro 2021 football tournament.

The original Wellington Library
The inscription in the stonework high in the gable says that the place was 'Erected in Commemoration of the Coronation of King Edward VII', which would date it to sometime around 1901 or very soon thereafter. It's no longer operating as the library, and appears to be for sale or in the throes of conversion to alternative use.

Whoever thought that this was a good name for a food outlet? The chips are good, though; don't let the name put you off. Eat in or take away.
