Oldforge Bridge
Just SW of the main causeway, but rather harder to photograph unless in a canoe, Oldforge Bridge carries Hinnington Road across the Wesley Brook. The 19th century bridge was given a grade II listing in 1984, described at http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-417336-oldforge-bridge-ryton-#.WE5UFrKLSM8

Oldforge Bridge - the causeway
The true bridge, which is just off-shot to the right, and this causeway, were given Grade II listed status in 1984. The structure dates from the 19th century, and is described at http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-417336-oldforge-bridge-ryton-#.WE5SQbKLSM8

Grindleforge Bridge
The majority of the bridge structure forms a causeway across the Wesley Brook valley here. The arch that spans the Wesley Brook is just off to the right. The primary purpose of the two small arches is presumably to allow floodwater through, but they also provide access for sheep to the field beyond the bridge. At our approach the sheep escaped through the tunnel.

Oldforge Bridge causeway on the downstream side
This is the downstream, southeasterly side of the Grade II listed structure of Oldforge Bridge, which dates from the 19th century. It was presumably preceded by a ford across the Wesley Brook. The whole structure is more fully described at http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-417336-oldforge-bridge-ryton-#.WE5UFrKLSM8

Oldforge Cottage at Grindleforge
The true cottage is actually the right-hand side of the building. The right-hand side and the linking portion have been added in 2007/2008 as part of a major renovation of the original property. It remains to be seen if it fits into the surroundings when it's complete.
