The true bridge, which is just off-shot to the right, and this causeway, were given Grade II listed status in 1984. The structure dates from the 19th century, and is described at http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-417336-oldforge-bridge-ryton-#.WE5SQbKLSM8
