View eastward, towards Duns and Reston: ex-NBR Reston - Duns - Greenlaw - St Boswells line. After the Great Floods of 12/8/48, Earlston lost its passenger services, which ceased Duns - St Boswells, but after some months freight traffic was restored until complete closure came about from 19/7/65: Reston - Duns lost passenger services from 10/9/51, goods from 7/11/66.

Speedy's Path, Earlston
Sign at the northern end. The path joins up with the new paths on either bank of the Leader Water that run to Leaderfoot. That's all, just a sign to recognise the hard work that went into these lovely paths and not several sheets of tatty NO-tices that you often get, especially down the road in England. This adds so much to the user experience and is really appreciated.
