Goats at dusk in a rear garden at Ford
Great to meet these two characters here. They were wary, but also curious as to whether I had any interesting titbits about me. So we had a chat and I moved on, as I couldn't feed them and therefore didn't interest them much.

Helpful signage beside the footpath
Someone has placed this here (the landowner I assume) to keep walkers on the right path and very helpful it is too. I love it when people strive to help others.

Last Spring's bird's nest in a bough beside the footpath at Ford village, Shropshire
When I make plans and my doubts become 'traitors, and make me lose the good I oft might win, by fearing to attempt' I always try to remember what ordinary birds do every season; they build a static nest of twigs, bound to a tree with no adhesives, out of doors and visible to every predator and competitor, and in that fragile bower raise a brood and often see them successfully fledge and start that same cycle themselves, ad infinitum. I want to be more like a bird; trusting myself, my skills and trusting pure optimism too, the laws of chance, the laws of nature and that you make your own luck. We don't need much certainty to try and then succeed. Birds prove this every year, every day. Wynford Vaughan-Thomas, the Welsh broadcaster, had a life view of 'pointless optimism' and I have yet to see anyone improve on this philosophy. He was a birder too.

The Parish Hall in Ford village, Shropshire
The Parish hall or village hall looks good. Just what you think of when you hear the words 'parish hall'.

Range of old farmyard buildings at Lower Farm, Ford
My god these buildings, and indeed the whole farm, have seen better days. Ripe for residential conversion I would think.

View to Ford village amenities from a footpath
Across the beet field full of hungry pregnant ewes is the filling station, chippy and curry house. Know them well.

Stag sculpture at Marche Industries Ltd in Ford, Shropshire
I am amazed that this stag hasn't been grabbed by a local retailer as part of their Christmas window display. Maybe it's just too big? Maybe someone could buy it as an amusing hat stand instead?

Industrial unit in Ford, Shropshire
This unit houses Marche Industries Ltd and at their offices and workshop here you can see their ever changing display of items from this stag to various robot-like figures etc. Always eye-catching and entertaining. They do dome run of the mill decking frames and disabled ramps too.
