Hello, I am the Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant covering the Shrewsbury area.  I am an experienced Officer and have worked for West Mercia Police since 2000. My objective is to ensure that your Safer Neighbourhood Teams are visible in the local community and are engaging with Partner Agencies in order deal with issues that arise.  If you have an issue, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the team and we will endeavour to assist you.

Ross Cookson (Police Constable)

I joined West Mercia in 1991 and started my service in Herefordshire, where I have worked a variety of roles including frontline response work at main police stations and also at 'out stations' in smaller towns. Whilst in Hereford I joined the Divisional Traffic Unit and formed part of the Armed Response Team.

I continued in this area and worked as an Instructor at our Firearms Training Department at Police H/Q, Worcester, before returning to front line duties in 2011 as a member of the Operational Policing Unit based in Shrewsbury.

I have a keen interest in the countryside and enjoy making use of Shropshire's 'great outdoors' when not at work.

I am part of the Shrewsbury Rural West Safer Neighbourhood Team ( SNT )

I have been a PCSO since April 2007 having previously worked in the security industry.

Since starting as a Police Community Support Officer I have worked on various SNT areas. When I joined in 2007 I worked on the Bagley SNT area where I worked for 12 months. I then moved to Shrewsbury Town Centre SNT team where I then spent 8 years.

I have been in my current post on Shrewsbury Rural West SNT team for almost 2 years now.

I also have a keen interest in Rural Life.
