Unusual hanging baskets
On number 1 Severn Terrace, Frankwell Street. There is also an elephant, out of shot to the left.
Note the decorative yellow brickwork, common in houses of this age in Newtown.

Severn Terrace, Frankwell Street
Catching the sun on New Year's Day afternoon with the Long Bridge on the left.
Taken rather later than midday but as my first photo of the year I think it deserves a place in the collection.

Houses on Frankwell Street from across the river
The white house in the sunshine is Bodafon, to its right, 2 and 1 Severnside Villas, then Glan Dwr. The Long Bridge is just visible on the left. The spire is on the Crescent church http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1141519.

RC church garden
On the river bank next to the Long Bridge.
The dead tree on the right is a eucalyptus which did not survive the hard winter of 2009/2010. See it in better days here http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1386468.
Beyond the garden is Frankwell Street.

Long Bridge and low river levels
After the driest April for many years water levels were low enough to paddle across the river here (although I didn't try it).
The building with the tile-hung bay windows beyond the bridge is Pont Hafren, a mental health drop-in centre. The large white building to the right is the God The Holy Ghost RC church. The spire belongs to the Crescent church http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1141519.
