Sheep pasture near Whitchurch
Gently undulating sheep pasture immediately north of Whitchurch. The field is divided into several small enclosures, presumably to separate sheep during the lambing season. The dismantled Whitchurch to Chester railway followed the line of trees (left; see Image). The houses in the distance (centre) are a recently built estate, Fairways Drive, in Image View from Tarporley Road opposite The Grove

Leafy suburbs on the north of Whitchurch
Tarporley Road (B5476) follows the former route of the A49 through Whitchurch; this view is just on the Whitchurch side of the 30 mph limit signs. The junction on the left is the 20th-century housing estate of The Grove (see Image). This part of Tarporley Road has several large red-brick houses, probably of late Victorian or Edwardian date, such as The Laurels on the right with its distinctive circular bay with conical roof. Another example is shown in Image View from near the junction with the track to Mount Farm. For the view from the east, see Image

Pasture north of Mount Farm
Gently undulating pasture north of Whitchurch. A brook between the field and the housing estate of The Grove is just out of view to the right of the picture. The red-brick house in the distance (right) is Fairy Glen Villas. View from the public footpath between Tarporley Road and The Fields farm, at the point where the footpath diverges from the farmtrack. The dismantled Whitchurch to Chester railway line runs along the field boundary of this field; see Image, taken from slightly further north on this footpath

The Grove, Whitchurch
Pleasant small late-20th-century housing estate off the B5476/Tarporley Road (foreground) on the north edge of Whitchurch. The estate contains detached, mainly two-storey houses with small gardens, and probably dates from the 1950s or 60s; the houses around the outer edge of the estate still back onto farmland. The dismantled Whitchurch to Chester railway crosses Tarporley Road in the belt of trees at the far right of this picture; the route continues through the gardens of the houses on the right

Highfield House, Tarporley Road, Whitchurch
One of several large red-brick houses, probably of late Victorian or Edwardian date, in this part of Tarporley Road (B5476). This example features prominent chimney stacks and brick detailing. The name probably derives from the topography: the farmland on the east side descends relatively steeply from around 115 metres to an area of meres and marshland at around 95 metres in this square and Image (see Image). The tree on the right of frame is a mature monkey puzzle. View from Haroldgate
