Church of St John the Baptist
Affectionately known as 'tin tabernacles' these churches in kit form were erected in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, often as a temporary arrangement before being replaced by a more solid structure in brick or stone. This is a rare example of one still in use.

Church of St John the Baptist, Maesbury
The church is a "tin tabernacle", a prefabricated structure made of corrugated iron. These were relatively common in the late 19th / early 20th century but are more frequently seen used by non-conformist denominations: when used by Church of England churches it was often as a stop-gap pending later erection of a "proper" church of stone or brick.
