The church is a "tin tabernacle", a prefabricated structure made of corrugated iron. These were relatively common in the late 19th / early 20th century but are more frequently seen used by non-conformist denominations: when used by Church of England churches it was often as a stop-gap pending later erection of a "proper" church of stone or brick.
