Pull up the drawbridge for the night
Earlier I had been talking with the farmer at Morton Farm concerning getting the suckler cows and calves across the new bridge for the first time. That is a task to be completed next week. Pulling up the bridge is like shutting the back gate.

Montgomery Canal, every canal lovers dream
Gleaming in white and black paint the new lift bridge on the Montgomery Canal at Morton farm is nearly completed. It is built to the traditional design in oak. It will be used as a cattle crossing for the nearby farm. The water level is slowly rising as water is allowed to seep in at Gronwen wharf.

Montgomery Canal as many people wanted to see it
Canal is now almost full of water, it is about 150mm below the canal at Gronwen Wharf and still trickling in. Presumably it is still leaking a bit as all the banks get well wetted.

Morton Farm lift bridge
This new bridge is on The Shropshire Union Canal Montgomery Branch. This section has recently been restored and is now fully watered and in the "recovery" stage. Progress has been rapid in the last three years and now it is looking like a long established canal again. Image] Image] Image]
