149 Clapham Road
Early-C19th stuccoed house, now flats, and "somewhat mutilated" in the words of the listing. It has an Ionic porch and the central windows, the upper one oval, are in an arched recess. Despite mutilation, it still has an air of grandeur. Grade II listed.

135 Clapham Road
Begun in 1821 by John Lett, a builder, the section on the left a later C19th extension. It is currently on English Heritage's Heritage at Risk Register, but not, one hopes, for much longer. Grade II listed.
Four or five years ago, when I photographed it, this house stood neglected with its windows boarded up. It's encouraging to see it spruced up, but unfortunate that it has come at the price of being surrounded by dreary modern pastiche. A pity that developers have to always hark back, but if they must they could at least look and learn from the originals. It's the proportions stupid.
