Brompton Road tube station
This station on the Piccadilly Line was closed on 30th July 1934 but the former entrance building still retains part of the original red-glazed terracotta frontage. This part, facing Cottage Place, was the staff entrance. The public entrance, on Brompton Road, was demolished in 1972.

The (former) Brompton Road tube station, Brompton Road / Cottage Place, SW3
Brompton Road station, between Hyde Park Corner and South Kensington stations, opened in December 1906. Its main entrance was on Brompton Road, not here in Cottage Place. In 1909 the Piccadilly line decided to let some trains pass through some of the lesser-used stations without stopping; these included Brompton Road. One of the four lifts was removed in 1911, and a second in the late 1920s; later, the booking office was closed. The station was closed for public use in July 1934. Throughout WW II the station was used as the control room for the 1st Anti-Aircraft Division, and was later transferred to the Territorial Army.
