Hambly Mansions, Streatham High Road
Built in 1877 for P.B. Cow whose factory used to be a little further down the road. The architects were Ernest George and Harold Peto. George lived in Streatham for some years and designed several buildings in the area. Note the tile-hanging and prominent chimney (compare with: Image]). It is within the Streatham Common Conservation Area. The ground floor has been the premises of Potter Perrin for some years, selling bathrooms and kitchens, with flats above.

Site near Lewin Road
The nondescript patch of green on the other side of Streatham High Road (with the advertising hoardings) is within the Streatham Common Conservation Area. Lambeth Council's idea was that it would enable greater control over any future proposals to develop the site. Streatham Common North is on the right. The yellow car under a horse chestnut tree is parked in Lewin Road.

The Greyhound, Greyhound Lane
A large, typical roadside pub of the inter-war years, having been rebuilt in the 1930s. Due to its location on the main London-to-Brighton road, there has been a coaching inn on this site since the early C18th. Salsa lessons, however, are a more recent innovation. It is within the Streatham Common Conservation Area.
