First Capital Connect train at Streatham station
The Peckham Rye to Sutton line via Tulse Hill and Streatham was opened in 1868. Now trains run from here to St Albans and Luton. In this photograph, a First Capital Connect train on its way to Sutton is about to leave.

View southward on the A23 Streatham High Road, with the entrance as rebuilt in 1985, the railway running underneath - London, left, Wimbledon, Sutton etc. right: ex-LB&SCR London Bridge - Tulse Hill - Mitcham Junction - Sutton etc. line, also Holborn Viaduct/Blackfriars - Herne Hill - Tulse Hill - Tooting - Wimbledon (jointly with the ex-LSWR). The latter service has been superseded by the Thameslink circular service via Wimbledon and Sutton since 1987. (My wife age 75, prominent).
