Close up of the Marc Bolan memorial on Barnes Common
This is the spot where Marc Bolan of T Rex was killed in a car crash on Queen's Ride on 16th September 1977, two weeks before his 30th birthday. It is to be found on Queen's Ride on the edge of Barnes Common, but as that is a busy narrow road it is normally accessed from the quieter Gipsy Lane which is where this photograph was taken. Queen's Ride is beyond the barrier at the top of the steps. The site, referred to as Bolan's Rock Shrine, is owned and maintained by the T. Rex Action Group.
