Memorial To Edward Penrhyn, Christ Church
Outside the church on the west wall of Christ Church Image is a memorial to Edward Penrhyn, born 1823 died 1861. He was one of the first instigators in proposing the building of a church in East Sheen to accommodate the growing population of the parish. When he died suddenly in 1861, the church project continued as a memorial to him and for all the good works he had undertaken.

Christchurch Road, East Sheen
Seen at its junction with West Temple Sheen, Christchurch Road is in an area of mainly large detached houses but there is a Victorian church, Christ Church, built between 1862 and 1864 to a design by Arthur Blomfield. Its construction was delayed when the tower collapsed shortly before completion and had to be rebuilt. The building is now grade II listed.
