Outside the church on the west wall of Christ Church Image is a memorial to Edward Penrhyn, born 1823 died 1861. He was one of the first instigators in proposing the building of a church in East Sheen to accommodate the growing population of the parish. When he died suddenly in 1861, the church project continued as a memorial to him and for all the good works he had undertaken.
