World's End Estate, World's End Place
Ending up as a late entry in the roster of high-rise estates - building began in 1967 but was not completed until 1977. What also sets it apart from previous entries was the use of brown brick, an attempt to make something more homely. The architects were Eric Lyons, Cadbury-Brown, Metcalfe & Cunningham. It was built to house about 2,500 people at a density of 270 people per acre.
