I spotted this 'copy' of a well known car early one morning in The Uplands, Great Haywood - it's a shame there is no music!!

Hazeldene, Great Haywood
Somewhat confusingly, the name Hazeldene is used for two separate but parallel streets leading off Little Tixall Lane. The houses in this view are on the more westerly of the two and this road leads to Uplands. The name derives from Hazeldene House which was once occupied by the village doctor but was demolished in 1975. To add to the confusion there is now a Hazeldene House Surgery in Great Haywood but that is not on either of the Hazeldenes.

Presbytery at St John the Baptist RC church
JRR Tolkien's wife and her cousin Jennie Groves stayed at the presbytery with Father Emery in April/May 1916.
Edith like many another officer's wife had moved to Great Haywood to be near her husband whilst training at Brocton Camp on Cannock Chase.

St John the Baptist RC Church (interior)
Originally built as a private chapel by Thomas Clifford at Tixall in 1829. The family moved to Burton Constable in 1835 and when the estate was sold in 1845.The chapel was removed stone by stone by the congregation to a site in Great Haywood.
In May 1916 JRR Tolkien and his wife Edith received a Nuptial Blessing of their Lent wedding. Edith like many another officer's wife had moved to Great Haywood to be near her husband whilst training at Brocton Camp on Cannock Chase.

St John the Baptist RC church, Great Haywood
The church was built for the Clifford family as a family chapel at Tixall Hall between 1827 and 1829. The architect was Joseph Ireland (c. 1780 - 1841). It was moved to Great Haywood in 1845 after the Tixall estate was sold. The church is grade II listed. The presbytery on the right is attached to the church, but is not included in the listing.

Church of St John the Baptist, Great Haywood
The Catholic church is listed grade 2 (list entry number 1079630). Although it appears c.16th century style, in fact it is an older building moved in 1845 from Tixall, 2km away.
