A pair of cottages in Daws Heath Road, Daws Heath, Thundersley. The one on the left has been unoccupied for many years. Sadly now that the tenant of the right hand cottage has died, they are likely to be demolished for re-development.

This wood formerly known as Image is one of Essex Wildlife Trusts http://www.essexwt.org.uk/ latest acquisitions. The Trust launched a public appeal for funds to buy the wood in 2013 after only a few days of the appeal the Wells family offered to pay the full cost provided the wood could be renamed in honour of the late Valarie Wells. Most of the other donors agreed that their gifts could be used to set up a management fund . Foot path to Daws Heath Road

This is the Western gate to Little Haven Nature Reserve on Daws Heath Road. The reserve is leased by Essex Wildlife Trust from the Little Haven Children’s Hospice. When I last stood here by the Image in 2006 the Essex Wildlife Trust’s sheep had made sure this was pasture http://www.essexwt.org.uk/visitor_centres__nature_reserves/little_haven/ You can see that given only a little time the Silver Birches are getting established. Unless there is intervention this field will soon be woodland.
