This wood formerly known as Image is one of Essex Wildlife Trusts http://www.essexwt.org.uk/ latest acquisitions. The Trust launched a public appeal for funds to buy the wood in 2013 after only a few days of the appeal the Wells family offered to pay the full cost provided the wood could be renamed in honour of the late Valarie Wells. Most of the other donors agreed that their gifts could be used to set up a management fund .
