King George V pillarbox and railway posters outside Southampton Central railway station
Facing Blechynden Terrace near the northern entrance to the station.
The manufacturers' name on the base of the pillarbox is
MCDOWALL STEVEN & CO LTD, LONDON & FALKIRK.
The poster on the left states Don't leave your luggage unattended - it may be removed without warning.
The title of the other poster is Police travel by train too!

Southampton Central Station
A view from platform 2, looking westwards. For a 1963 view, see Image The most evident change is that the 1895 buildings have been replaced by the "Overline House" office building and station entrance. The covered station footbridge is visible in both views, with only cosmetic changes. A Cross-Country train stands in platform1.

Southampton Central Station - 1963
A train hauled by a rebuilt "West Country" Class locomotive pulls into platform 1 at the station. The headcode shows this to be a train on the Bournemouth West to Waterloo route. The locomotive is 34017 "Ilfracombe", built in 1945 and withdrawn in 1966. It was rebuilt in 1957 from the original "air smooth casing" (streamlined) design. Brompton Dock Bike Hire outside Southampton Central railway station
Alongside Blechynden Terrace near the northern entrance to the station. Here you can hire a Brompton folding bike from £2.50 a day. If you haven't hired a Brompton bike before, you need to register and credit your account to get started. You will then be able to reserve a bike online or by text message before collecting it from here, or from one of more than 40 similar docks in the UK.

Southampton: postbox № SO15 1, Blechynden Terrace
This large, George V-reign postbox stands outside the main entrance of Southampton Central railway station, and is emptied finally at 5:30pm on weekdays and at 12:30pm on Saturdays.
It appears to have had a new information plate holder screwed to it.
