Little George, Chippenham
Damage caused by a fire in 1903 resulted in the rebuild of the Little George Hotel at 29 New Road, which reopened in August 1905. This is a view of the SE side of the building, now a pub named Little George.

La Passione
This ex Ushers pub (The Little George, then the Bridge Brasserie) is now renamed "La Passione" and opens in two days time. Probably stands a reasonable chance of success as an Italian restaurant as there has been no real competition for Italian food since Nico's shut eight or nine years ago. For its former incarnation see Image New Road into town on the left and Park Lane A420 coming towards the viewer on the right of the building.

The Bridge Brasserie
Used to be Ushers' The Little George. Has struggled for years now. In the eighties the bar was fitted with gas lighting, which, apart from giving the place a strange aroma, made sitting playing crib under the gas mantles rather uncomfortable.

Redevelopment of site of Dentons, Park Lane
The site of disused shops which were once a sound system equipment shop and Chippenham's only proper hardware store (Dentons). The last incarnation of the hardware shop being as "Funk and Chic", a boutique outlet store, whatever that means, which moved into the town centre. The plot has planning permission for eight flats. The New Inn, Chippenham
New and old are of course relative terms. What is new today will some day be old, and what is old today was once new. The name board of the New Inn shows Est(ablished) 1815, which probably makes the New Inn one of the oldest pubs in town. Viewed across New Road.
