A path runs from near the pub to Horton Bridge on the Kennet and Avon Canal. The kissing gate is a little overgrown but another gate to the left provided easier access.

There are more signs with this name than any other because the Crown is frequently in combination with other objects. It may first have been used for pubs which were on Crown property but it is certainly a symbol of loyalty to and affection for the Monarch. Image
