Number 24 High Street is a late 18th century building in brick with a mansard roof. The right shop front is mid 19rh century, the left shop front late 20th century in similar style. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1263566 The market town of Devizes developed around its 11th century castle. It gained a charter in 1141 and holds a weekly market in the large and picturesque Market Place. In the 16th century the town became known for its textiles and in the early 18th century held the largest corn market in the West Country. Devizes has about 500 listed buildings - a very large number for a small town.

Behind the 1920s ashlar screen at number 23 High Street is the former Friends Meeting House. The house was built (or possibly rebuilt) in 1701-2 and replaced a former Meeting House in Hillworth Park. The Old Town Hall, Devizes
The building on the corner of St John's Street and Wine Street is now (October 2014) a branch of TSB. The TSB name signs are tucked away under the arches. The building has had a variety of uses. Built during 1750-1752, it was a Cheese Hall and was used as the Town Hall during the erection of the present-day Town Hall http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4216407 in the first decade of the 19th century. It was later a militia depot. Grade II* listed in 1954.
