The building on the corner of St John's Street and Wine Street is now (October 2014) a branch of TSB. The TSB name signs are tucked away under the arches. The building has had a variety of uses. Built during 1750-1752, it was a Cheese Hall and was used as the Town Hall during the erection of the present-day Town Hall http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4216407 in the first decade of the 19th century. It was later a militia depot. Grade II* listed in 1954.
